Default shore fishing near canmore?

I have lived in Alberta for 3+ years now and i haven't been able to get out fishing yet. next weekend i'm planning on going out near canmore and was hoping i could get some decent locations around there to try and fish.

i have never done fly fishing and don't own a fly fishing rod all i have is a regular spinning reel and i'm slowly building up my tackle again.

any tips for such places would be great as well.

any help would be greatly appreciated.

thanks.

Well for shore fishing in Canmore there are a few lakes ponds and a river
The closest pond would be quarry I'm not sure how to fish it though another pond is grotto it's pretty simple to fish use power bait
A lake close by would be spray but I'm not sure that the ice is safe or it's opened up fish with smelts
The bow river is pretty good fish it around the engine bridge the downtown bridge there's also the highway bridge
The last I know of is gap lake fish with spoons

Hope this helps

McGregor, Chestermere, Newell, Keho and Badger Lakes will get you started.
I have only fished McGregor, but do a search on here, there are lots of threads on the other above mentioned.
