Default NW Calgary Bow- Anywhere decent to fish?

I'm wondering if there is any legit fishing in NW calgary. I just moved to 31st NW right off memorial drive.

I usually fish the bow way south of town but I'm wondering if anyone has luck in Bowness area? I tried by Edwothy park the other night but no luck there is barely any water right now.

Be great to have somewhere I can walk to instead of driving south of the city.

There are, but they were found after a lot of exploring and skunkings.

I encourage you to keep looking. The NW can surprise you.

Like Biggy J. says. There are good fish in the NW stretch, but you have to put in a lot of time and effort. Reduce your expectations relative to the Lower Bow. Also, the Rainbows are noticeably smaller than lower down. Browns are as large as anywhere on the Bow, only there are fewer of them. Just remember there are only about 400 trout per mile up here, compared to over 2000 trout per mile below the city.

The other hint I will give you:

When they are on, they are on, but when off, they are off.

If you are not catching fish in a spot, you have to move. You cannot grow roots and hope the fish will start biting.

I lived in Calgary for 22 years and came to love fishing the Bow in the NW. The big bend down the hill from Home Road in Montgomery is a good place to start exploring.
Shouldice Athletic Park and downstream to the Edworthy Park pedestrian bridge down to storm sewer outfall B81, near the Memorial Tr. jogging and cycling paths. I visited my old haunts last summer during the hot spell. Terrible fishing, then. The Bow seemed 'boiled out'. The bottom of the river has changed considerably since the June 2013 flood. So the 'holding water' is different Like biggyJ says, you have to move around. Good luck!

I've been fishing downstream of the story trail bridge. East of the dogpark where the trai bridge is. I caught a decent rainbow a few days ago. Also tried 100 meters downstream of the stoney bridge. Nothing. It's a tough time of the year for fishing.
