Default Taxidermy and Butchering

Well finally got it done, first Muley with a bow, thinking of mounting the head. He not huge but its the memories with my 6 yr old that count and need a butcher too, am in Cochrane. Spent 16 days hunting with this little guy and finally did it today he's ecstatic. Whats a good taxidermy and also a butcher locally.

I can't help you with your requests, but seriously good job! It's an even greater acomplishment to make memories with a child. I took a decent buck a couple years ago, as I knew I could pick up my son, and have him come along for the recovery mission. Made it a big deal and he still talks about it now.

Congrats! Very cool that you got to share this with your son.😀👍

If you have the time you could butcher it yourself. Watch a youtube video, buy a set of knives, pick up some butcher paper and learn with your little guy. I have the outdoor edge set of knives and they work well, you can usually find them on sale too.

Here is a recent thread discussing Calgary and area butchers.

I can't help with a taxidermist, but first mule with the bow and all the other memories are more than enough reason to do it. Not every mount needs to be a record breaker. I think he'll look very handsome and be a fine memento. One day your son will inherit it and think fondly of his childhood.

Watch a couple of videos or have someone who knows show you (it’s not brain surgery), then butcher it with jr. helping. Does nothing but add to the experience.
