Default Lake Newell

Hey,

I will be headed to visit some relatives this weekend, I looked and seen lake Newell is close to where I'm headed.

I'm looking to fish this lake for a day but have never been on it, just wondering if anyone had any info for me?

Best place to access the lake?

Certain areas to fish/stay away from?

Any advice/info would be appreciated!

Thanks.

Do a quick search of the forum, all the info you need is there. Kinbrook Island is a good place to start. Be aware of the regulations.

Even though the ice is around 24" thick, I would be careful venturing on the lake if you have never drove on before...I am sure some of the locals will chime in and help out....

Also wondering about what the access situation is like at the moment and how much snow is on the ice, is it drivable?

Default Newell snow

Just messaged mother-in-law in Brooks. Apparently access is not a problem but there is lots of snow. They are going out tomorrow-if I get a report I will post it here.

As of today, Jackfish bay has lot's of snow cover. However someone broke a trail, but I got stuck in a F150 4x4 when venturing off the main path. Bring a shovel!

My in-laws have a shack on Newell. They went out yesterday to have a look. LOTS of snow. Says to stay on trails or may be trouble. They didn't fish as they were looking to take off shack but said it was snowed in.

Snowed here yesterday but it's moving up into the plus starting today, will be melting soon.
