I fish Wabamun quite a bit and have yet to catch one. But I hear the odd story.

I cant see why there wouldnt be, but the only thing maybe stopping or slowing the Walleye in there would be the big pike. There are a couple spots I have found that would hold Walleye really nice.

But until I catch on eor see one on the camera its all just speculation..

Back in the day there used to be quite a few. Now im talking, before they had all that crap on the outlet, and you could actually launch a boat in there. And also back in the times when you could bowfish for pike!!! used to jig for a few walleyes right fairly close to the road that crosses over the outlet. Dam i miss the old days.

Default RE: Wabamun Walleye

They tried stocking it in the 80's but gave up after a few years. Believe it had to do with spawning problems.

I used to fish the warm water canals about 7 Years ago in the winter and caught lots of eyes.
With the warm water it was always flowing water, and night time fishing was awesome, the biggest i ever seen come out was 10 lbs, i have not been out there since, but might have to go check it out.

Default RE Wabamun eyes

Just heard today that they may close Wabamun to fishing completely this year as the CN spill is affecting spawning. Anybody else hear that?

The last time I saw a walleye in there was the year before the put the cooling araetors in. They would sit at the top of the outlet canal. Never did catch one, but did see a few on occasion. None since though.
