Why is the use of live bait illegal here in Alberta?

to prevent the spread of disease and invasive species. Why bring sucker minnows to a trout pond and let them swim away to breed?

Is that what happened with Prussian Carp in just about every fishing hole in Alberta?

Just because the rule book states that there shall be no transportation of live fish it shouldn't be a reason for some folks to do as they please.

I was wondering the same thing and did some research. Officially the source of the prussain carp is unknown and there is no known official import of them.

However they are very similar to goldfish and can be included in shipments of those fish. Either by release by pet owners or accidental introduction from backyard ponds this how it is believed they were introduced.

live bait is not illegal ! you can use live leeches or worms & maggots
