Default Gull Lake Fishing?

I'm new to fishing in Alberta and was wondering if anyone could tell me what the fishing is like in Gull Lake? The wife and I are heading to Aspen Beach Camp grounds this weekend and I figured I would bring along a rod and reel. I have no boat, just chest waders and a spinning rod / reel.

Any words of advice??? What (if any) could I expect to catch??

Thanks.

Fishing off the Dock isnt bad at Aspen Its Quite Shallow but ive seen some people land some decent pike from there just use 5 of Diamond spoons or red Devils and with some Patiance you should hook into the odd one.

You can wade quite the ways on Gull, it stays shallow most of the way around. It gets gooey in some spots though.
Follow the shoreline to the west. There used to be good pike along the weeds, about half way between Aspen and the overflow at Brewers.

How did he make what? If your talking about the 5 of diamonds, thats a spoon pattern not a fly. Its yellow with 5 black or red diamonds on it (or some variant of this pattern). And its a tried and true pattern that has caught many big fish over the years.

Ok thanks, tell me how to get the dock then. I only fished there in hardwater season and basicly on the north side.

good luck!

5 o Diamonds worked well. The water is quite grassy but there are some fish there when there ain't 6-8 boats buzzing around.

Directions, take HWY 12 13km West of HWY 2, boat dock easily found. Good luck.
