Custom Knife Birthday Present
Good Afternoon,
I am sure there is info here somewhere and I have read many threads; however, have not come across what I am looking for so forgive me if I am re-asking something that has already been asked.
I am looking for a custom knife that I could have an Inlay or Initials put into.
He is an Avid Hunter and Saltwater Fisherman so either disciplines would work.
Birthday is in June, so I'm cutting it close I know, so if someone had something in stock or on the desk that would be cool.
Not looking to break the bank here, but I do know that custom, quality work cost money and not cheap, nor am I looking for something cheap.
If you folks could point me in a direction, that would be awesome.
I'm located in Calgary, but okay with shipping or picking up somewhere in the near vicinity.
Thanks for your help, very much appreciated.

I'd invite you to read this thread:

I don't know if they could meet your schedule or budget, but there are several custom knife builders on the forum.

Rapid River Knifeworks in Michigan are good knives, reasonably priced and very accommodating. I had them build about 5 knives and laser etch a brand on the blade. Not as nice as something inletted into the handle but it was priced accordingly and out the door within a couple of days. Kris is the owner and can be reached at 906 474 9444.
There are some very good custom knife makers in Alberta but I'm not sure they will meet your deadline.

Check out member on here Phil McCracken. He's up around Rocky and builds some pretty nice knives. May be able to get you one in time

When I lost my dad, (mom had passed already) I bought a benchmark of my choice and had the blade laser engraved. Just a short name dates and a small descriptor for each. One on each side of the blade. It is an EDC folding knife and it reminds me of them every time I dig it out of my pocket. That could be done in your time frame.

Buck has a custom shop that provides fast turnaround. They will engrave knives.

This link will cover off any questions you may have and answer the ones you haven't thought of.
This is one of the best threads ever started and no trashing / derailing....
Good luck

Clint Chisan is for me the finest hunting knife maker in Canada and the equal of the big boys in the US I have bought from as well. He is in Strathmore.

I highly recommend Clint Chisan's knives.
