Default Pinehurst

Pulled in Thursday afternoon, crazy busy campground. Sites were designed before slide outs I guess. About 5 feet between units and fire pits. Construction is underway adding sites (I heard 200, but unconfirmed). That might not be good for the fishery there but water is still clear and clean. We filled our 4 class A tags, a little smaller than previous stays but still nice healthy eyes. My wife's 2 were bigger than my 2 but I'm getting used to that, 52, 54, 55 and 57cms. we put back a 51 and a couple of 50s. She also got a bonus pike just under 12 pounds and left Saturday. We did have problem with tags staying on, I had one come off one wire but stuck to the other so I just twisted wires together. My wife had one come off the wires completely, of course enforcement was on shore when we arrived and she got a written warning . They have had several issues with tags this year.

Some big eyes still there. Caught one about 70 cm this year. Too big for our tags. Been twice and no F&G checking both times for us. Very hard to fill class B tags there. Could have filled over 100 class A tags though.

Great fishery for now but when more sites open, road improvement, and camp sites improve the lake will get decimated quickly. I'm sure it will C & R in just a few years ahead.

Not sure the new campsite will have much impact on the fishery. They are only putting in 100 new back in spots. The old campground will be closed and the area around the boat launch will be day use only. The new 100 spots will basically equal the old 63 spots given that a large number of people used to put 3 or 4 units into one spot.

I think the boat launch will be busier though given you will not be able to camp close to your shored boat like in previous years. So you will have more people launching and taking their boats out daily perhaps. With the new day use area you might get more day use people perhaps which might have an impact but I guess we will have to wait and see.

kim, yes, we got very few in the B class size, many smaller and enough bigger to keep us interested. And cube, it looks like there will be a nice beach area by the new sites.
