Default Spinning set up recommendations

I took up fly fishing this season, and now use my fly rod for most of my fishing, but I am now looking at improving my spinning set up. Currently I am using an Ugly Stick rod that I found in the bush, along with a Canadian Tire reel off of a $20 spinning combo. I do have it spooled with Fireline right now, but it is a pretty awful setup otherwise.

I'm mainly looking to use it for fishing from a small zodiac, or when I want to fish deeper in a lake than it is enjoyable to use a fly rod. I understand that some people will try to talk me in to spending $150+, but I feel that for the limited amount I will use it, and the fact that i'm not made of money, I just can't justify it. Basically, i'm looking for what everyone thinks the absolute best value I can get for my money is for under say $100-$150, the lower the better.

This is excellent value for money, I like it so much I bought a second one.

Keep it spooled with Fireline @ 14# or less and it works a treat!
And at a great price right now as well.
