Default Danner Boot Water proofing

Just bought a pair of Danner boots and now I am wanting to water proof them. Just wondering if any guys or girls on here have a pair of Danner boots and was wondering what you use to water proof them with? Guy was trying to sell mink oil. Not a big fan of this stuff. Softens boots way to much. And suggestions would be great!

Thanks!

I use Danner Ft Lewis and Acadians for work. Only ever used Danner boot dressing. If memory serves me right, Danner instructions say not to use certain treatments if the boot has a Goretex lining.

From their web site;
"Boot Dressing Compound is water resistant and allows for breathability. This is especially important to GORE-TEX boots, as the waterproof membrane needs to be able to breathe through the leather to work most efficiently."

I also use boot wax on my gortex boots, but I'd check to see what Danner recommends.

I have had Dannerboots for years. The above is correct. Never Mink oil

Where can I get some of this Danner boot dressing? Is it a wax or a aerosol?

If they are a Gortex boot you are just keeping the leather conditioned. Look at boot wax. I wax my boots every couple trips to keep the leather in good shape. Its the gortex booty that keeps your foot dry.

I have been using Sno-seal on my Gortex Danner Elkhunters for years. You have to use a blow dryer and heat them up while your applying it. I just brought them to the show repair to soles and I ask the guy what's the best stuff to use on them, he says Sno-seal, so I figure it outta be the stuff.

By the way Danner sells two separate products, one for waterproofing and the dressing.

I've been using mink oil but maybe I should switch? does anyone know if I can use sno-seal or the boot dressing if I've already used mink oil?
