Default trout ice fishing down south

Hello all, it was a great day of fishing on saturday. We started at the Old man reservoir and the bite was on from 10-12pm. I caught and released a 2 pound bull trout and a 4 pound rocky white. I also had my line snapped off three times so there are some big fish in that water. We then tried some of the other trout lakes in the area with great success. I can honestly say I love using shrimp for bait for the trout lakes as it was slaying them and it was also very tasty for a snack. The ice was around 15-18 inches depending on what lake to were at most people were still walking on the lakes. If you come down here bring some type of shelter as the wind can cause some discomfort with sub -zero temperatures.

tight lines

I believe the bait ban refers to Bait fish. If I recall correctly Smelt are not bait fish.

Bait Fish may be used in waters that do not have bait bans or bait fish restrictions. Where fishing with bait fish is prohibited, other baits including smelts, herring, gammarus shrimp and dead fish eggs (e.g., preserved “salmon eggs”) may be used, provided a bait ban is not in effect for that water body.

Hilarious. The one-liner that is... not the illegal use of bait.
