Default Ice fishing SprayLake

I am going a stag party to Banff this weekend and on Saturday we are fishing SprayLake. We have two guides from Banff Fishing Unlimited that will provide a shore lunch tackle and tents. We fish for 6.5 hours and they falay all the fish we catch.

I am interested in knowing how big the fish get here.

Also does anyone know why Lake Minnewanka is not open for ice fishing?

Most lakers in Spray are in the 2-3 lbs and sometimes smaller. There are a few 10plus taken every year but not many.

Have not been able to fish Minnewonka past the Sept long weekend for years now. Park stopped ice fishing years ago. No reason I was aware of other than they did not want to be checking in on ice fisherman.

Most of the lakers are 16" and less.

The picture posted of the 7lb 4oz fish is a monster by spray standards.

Good luck getting up early enough to take advantage of the morning bite after a stag party!
