Default Winefred Report

Got back from a 5 day trip to Winefred last night.

Water level is down a lot. The launch at the lodge is almost unusable for larger boats. Guys needed to back out past the end of the dock to launch. This was starting to create massive ruts in the sand and a lot of trucks were getting stuck. If you're bringing your own boat, I suggest launching at Pauls.

Lots of rain recently so roads were bad. Good luck if you plan on heading to the public launch.

Fishing was pretty bad in compared to other years. I've been going for about 20 years and this was probably the worst fishing I've experienced at Winefred. Maybe it was due to the weather, but it was extremely slow and no one I talked to was doing much better.

The new manager at the lodge Chris was very pleasant to deal with.

We were there lat year for July first weekend. The fishing was extremely good. Took longer to get a fish off the hook than to get next one on. We have gone every July 1st but we are going elsewhere this year as we can't even have a shore lunch there now
