5/8 is adequate, 3/4 is better.
You can tell the difference, especially on 19.2 joist centers. Plywood is way more moisture resistant, important if the floor is going to be exposed to the elememts for a while. I've seen 5/8 OSB turn to 1 1/4, after a couple of weeks of rain.
