Default pine coulee was a blast!!

so we arrived there at about 11:15 and started fishing the south end of the lake we stopped at about 3 inlets and picked up 2 walleye then we decided to head to the dock because of the increasing wind we got to the dock loaded the boat and decided to fish the dock witch in about 10 mins we caught 2 then sadly enough we had to go.... all in all i had a great day testing out the new boat and Honda outboard

Default Skinny Fish!!

I was out at Pine Coulee today as well. I was fishing in my kayak near the bridge from about 11 until 2:30. I caught about 15 walleye and a small jack. It was nice to catch more than one year class but all the larger fish, about
17" long, were very thin and pale. I would guess that they were only half of what a similar length fish from CV or Macgregor would weigh. The smaller year class, about 12" long, seemed to have normal proportions. Any body else noticing extra skinny fish at PC?

Default Skinny fish

Fished there all summer as well. Most I would say were ok size wise and a few skinny ones. We fish CV all winter as well. If you fillet some of the Pike and Burbot and look down the holes see all the freshwater shrimp they are eating. Their bellies are full of them. Filleting the Pike at Pine this summer not much inside. Only interesting thing was a tiny burbot. They will be slower growing there for sure. Would be nice if there was more feed for them. Maybe even whitefish or perch or something.

That lake does have a few minnow species for forage (shiners, chub, etc) but there's a lot of predatory fish for the limited food base. I did hear of a 27'' eye being caught this summer out of there. Thats the biggest one i've heard of from a reliable source since it was stocked. From talking to a few locals, it does not really matter what tactic or lure you use, lots of walleye. Great to hear additional updates now and then on here, great to see some of the new fisheries are really providing some good fishing.

...yesterday for most of the day. Fishing was slow due to the wind as I had 4 people in my boat (including myself) and my anchor and MONSTER chain combination just WOULD NOT dig in enough to stop us over top of the the fish for any reasonable amount of time.... Anyway, pulled about 50 or so fish out including some REALLY nice looking Burbot. The water's a bit on the low side but still easy enough to launch and cruise around without any issues....

Good Luck !

What did you use to catch Burbot during the day? Normally I catch them at night and don't have a lot of luck during the day on anything.
