Default Does your hunting dog suspect too.......?

That 'the happy timez' will be upon us soon?

My dang mutt lately is going squirrelly if I bring any kind of gun out.

I also can no longer say:

Hunting
Search
Bird
Gun
Truck......

Her energy levels in the evening are way up.
I was coming off the river with a buddy arpuns 9:30 last night and the pooch raced circles around us... That's after a day of swimming!

It's going to be an excellent season this year!!!!

Default I think we transmit our excitement to them

My 8 month old pup is wired and he has never hunted but seems to be on steroids when I let him out he is so bouncy. Only way he could know something is up is if he is reading me and I am excited about opening day.
Trained with dog clients with live chukars in traps yesterday and I suppose he heard the gun fire so when I let him out of run last night he was literally running circles around me and jumping for joy.
Took the 28 out this morning with him for a clean up shoot and found one of the chukars that was lost yesterday (safety on prevents shotgun from firing)
Also took a couple pot shots at wild pigeons who have been living in the cattle shelter and he picked up and delivered to hand two pigeons and one chukar so I think we are ready.
Wont be long now!!

Been working him with the field blind a bit, in the last couple of weeks, and the dummy launcher, he is ready to kick into hunt mode at a whisper now.
Saw the gun I brought home yesterday, went about 1/2 nuts ( that is just so wrong of a description, when he is nuts, period) seeing a gun out. He has seen a couple of flocks of geese now, he knows.........

Let me play the devil's advocate.

Bessiedog:

Who is getting who ready for hunting season?

Think about it. Who actually runs the classroom. The teacher or the students?

I think you know what I mean. Pretty Heavy Ed Psych. Huh?

Last edited by greylynx; 08-10-2014 at 02:17 PM. Reason: To much hyperbole following my initial post. Too much hyperbole can actually ruin a post and the reason I am writhing so much is that I want to find out if there is a limit on the number of words...
