Default Boar Bounty Discontinued

Just recieved bear bone facts that the AB govt has optted not to renew it's Boar Eradication Program. Don't have many facts but one strange press release states that the program will end March 31 2017, but you only have till March 15 to bring in a set of boars ears to collect your 50.00. Yeh whole thing seems strange but hey what else is new.
I would really like to see the actual number of bounties paid out duying this boar epedemic. If anyone has more concrete info or any official info. plesae add.

Interesting, I'd like to see those numbers too. I'm guessing they paid out so little they realized it was a waste of time, an the epidemic was a little less real than they had believed..

Or they realized they don't need to spend money to encourage anyone. Any pigs that are known are hunted hard.

Default Sasquatch

Yeah they stopped the Sasquatch bounty as well. Seems the numbers were the same. Lol
I've searched a lot and found zero, nota zilch. Not sure if they exist but I heard from a friend who's friend said their buddy shot 3 once. Lol.

There was a provincial program, but it was up to the individual counties to opt in or out of the program

I have a friend who sits on Parkland County council, he told me they are cancellng it as of March 31st. In 5 years, they paid out $250.00.

Well, put me in touch with one of those "guys" id like to get my sights on ONE. My grandpa got one when I was a kid, and I saw 2 of them about 4 years ago while I was driving, not that there are none around, but they are not much more plentiful as the common yeti.

I've shot about 10 of them. But the people who know where they're at aren't going to post it on the Internet.

The main reason for bounty was Alberta Agriculture did not want them to proliferate like rats. It appears to have worked to stop their spread and damage to farms.

I shot 3 of them once, but that was because the guy who owned them had not properly closed the gate, so they got out, he rounded up what he could, and then he called his friends to come and fill their freezer and just pay him a discounted price for the ones we got, but that wasn't exactly hunting, just driving around until we came across them and shoot them
