Default Good news/Bad news!!

Well the good news is I had Cardiac surgery last Friday.

The bad news is I can't shoot my rifle for 3 weeks and deer season will be done by then.

I've been slowing down a bit lately. I figured it was age and the extra pounds I've collected over the years.
I was planning to get a workout plan going, but I seemed to get winded easily, so I went for a physical before getting too excited. Doc sent me for a cardio stress test. 6 minutes into the test they stopped it.
I as scheduled for more testing. One of them was a 24 hour monitor that I used at home. I took it back on Wednesday morning, anfd Thursday I got a call from my family doc. "Go to Red Deer emergency now. You are getting a pacemaker."

Next day, they installed the pacer. 1 hour under a local and I was done.
I came home last night. I had to stick around for more tests, otherwise I could have come home within a day or two of surgery.

I feel great, like I've dropped 20 years. The pacer has my heart firing in rythm. Timing really is everything.

The only restrictions on me are for 30 days. no heavy lifting and no rifle or shotgunning.

Oh well, coyotes/wolves will be fair game in a month.

If any of you guys or gals have concerns about your health, don't wait, get it checked out. We may not have the perfect health system, but it is much better than others have.

Great to hear that you are feeling better already Red. I'm sure the coyotes and wolves will be singing and dancing in the street for the next month.

Glad to hear you are doing well. Good thing you had the forsight to have yourself checked out.My father had a pacemaker put in this year . He would all of a sudden fall asleep in his chair for a few seconds. He went to the hospital and they could not figure out the problem after spending the night there. 20 minutes before being sent home he fell asleep in his bed. turns out he flatlined for 22 seconds. We are sure thankfull the nurse was close by otherwise it was over.
Recover well, cause those dogs will be waiting for you when you are ready.

Take care

Guy.

Been wondering where you had gotten to. Your one of the few on here that I always make sure to read what you have to say. Sorry guys, sometimes you say something interesting too.

Glad to hear you're doing alright though. Hopefully you'll be out again soon.

Good to hear you are doing well Redfrog.

Perhaps as a little adjunct to spread a message to everyone on here, exp those guys getting a bit older (but more refined of course). Carry a couple baby aspirin with you at all times. If you feel some tightness and pain in your chest, pop them in your mouth and CHEW them. Then go to the hospital. This little preventative measure can give you some very important time before the Docs can get everything sorted out.

Wow, good on you for being proactive. Good luck and hope your health stays on the upside. It's better to sacrifice one hunting season that them all! Take care.
