Consider the 243 a 13 year old boy and the 25-06 an adult man at the peak of his prime.

6 mm or 243. can't beat them for long range ,flat ,prarie guns. 25-06 also good and about as flat as you can get if you load it right.

.270 WSM sounds like the perfect "cool just to own" addition.

If I could find another of the factory 1885's in 270WSM I'd buy one, for sure.

Here is my spin on this Jamie.
You admit you dont shoot enough to get good enough.
Buy a 223 and use it as a practice rifle, cheap accurate and low in recoil, you also dont have a tack driving 22 RF listed there is another consideration.
As for a hunting rifle look at a plain jane 270Win, or a 25'06 since most of your stuff is on the larger end.

Dick. You have hit it right on the head.
After reading all of these great suggestions I have decided upon a 270 Win or a 270 WSM
Now I just need to find one with a fully detachable magazine, throw Leupold VX2 on it and I think I will have a heck of deer gun.
Thanks Guys

You already have a Rem 700. There is no reason to change.

I meant stick with the 700. With a new caliber. It would be a gun he would be familiar with. That's only if he is happy with his Remington though.

Detachable magazine? I vote for a Sako Finnlight if you want a detachable magazine. Nicest rifle I know of with a detachable magazine, available in 270WSM.

Tikka T3 Hunter in 7mm. Great looking gun, classic feel, plenty 'o stopping power at long range and a detachable mag for under $800.

- 12 Gauge Pump (Super Nova) (Might get sold for a Semi)
What else do I need to add?
I was thinking a Really nice Deer/Antelope gun. I don't hunt yotes for profit and sheep is a dream at this point
What caliber and make would everyone recommend.
I was thinking the new model 70 winchester, but not sure on the "new" gun thing. I like a bit of a track record.
Thanks Guys

I would add a 270 Winchester to your collection.

I picked up a 270wsm last year in a Browning Staker Black on black. $800
Federal factory 130 gr 3400fps
Serria Hand load 130 gr 3200fps
Serria hand load 160gr 2950
I have hand loaded for 30+ and this is the most accurate out of the box gun I have ever owned and it dosen't matter the weight of the bullet it gives you tight groups. You have the short action and a clip. IMO
I picked up some 90gr speer the other day just to see what they will do.I don't have a load worked up yet but I think I know how it will turn out.

Just remember, if 10 guns are good, than 20 guns must be twice as good and 40 would be four time as good as that...
Jim
Jim said it all but look at the WSM like a 300. Check it out!!
17 HMR is a good but very small.
Your choice
