Outdoor Life Books published a book in 1985 called Outdoor Life: Deer Hunter's Yearbook. It has some great articles from some of the all time best outdoor writers such as Jack O'Connor, Jim Carmichel, John Weiss and Bruce Brady to name a few.The book covers all facets of deer hunting and is a really good reference book to this day despite the fact it was published so long ago. It covers tactics for mule deer, blacktails and white tails, scope and bino optics, bullet trajectories, rifles, muzzleloders and bow hunting. You may still find it on e-bay. A great read if you can find one.

I like reading about old time hunts. No big 4 wheel drive trucks, no quads, no GPS, no camo clothing, no propane heaters, no scopes nor any other high tech stuff we have now adays. Us hunters nowadays are spoiled.

Honda, pick up a copy of People and Peaks if you are a lover of old-time hunting stories. The photos alone are worth the price of the book.

Well I suppose but we also don't have the game alot of the old boys had either.. You could just walk off some logging road 200yrds and bag that big bull,, pretty tough in most places today... Most of them stayed in tents and ate off the fire,, hmmm sounds kind of familiar... They are fun stories to read tho thats for sure...

Ya, I love some of Andy's stuff...kinda cool when you've been most of the places he writes about...guess that's why I like the Willmore book too. O'Connor is another one that is worth reading.I come from a non-hunting family and I know his writing was a big influence on me becoming a hunter. For that I thank him dearly!

Big Game Hunting in Alberta, by Jack Ondrack, covers all the bases and has some interesting anecdotes as well.
