Great pike. Given how cold it was last weekend, time out of the water is critical. Fish eyeballs can freeze within seconds.

Thanks for all of the nice words, fellas. She put up a great fight, and almost spooled me out
I made sure I got my pictures then put her back down to catch another day.

We set up tip ups (and an iFish Pro) in 8, 16 and 20 FOW with large and extra large smelts. She hit a large smelt at 16 FOW in the early afternoon. I caught a 7lber a few hours earlier at the same depth with an extra large smelt.

Good point. If it's bitterly cold, the fish goes right back down the hole. Luckily it was about 4 or 5 degrees above zero.

What an awesome specimen. Love the colour and healthy looking. Been quite awhile since got a beast like that.
