Default Lesser Slave: Best Boat launch + Family Camping

Hi guys:

Used to fish the Golden Walleye Classic, but that was 30 years ago. Haven't been back since. Now I'm in charge of booking campsites for my circle of friends with RV's and boats.

Shaw's point had a nice marina (if I recall). But I am wondering about:

Hilliard's Bay?
Marten River?
Provincial Park?

I need to book somewhere that can launch a 18 foot jet boat, has nice beaches and quality of water (haha) for the kids swimming etc. And, of course, good fishing.

What campground would you choose? Bonus points, if it's closer to Edmonton.

Can't really comment on the campgrounds since I had homes at Slave Lake and Joussard. But I will say you should be able to launch an 18ft jet boat in a puddle if you want.

Spruce Point has an excellent launch, easy get your boat in there. I am told the campground is great and there is a beach and playground on site. Spruce point is in between Kinuso and Faust on the south side of the lake.

Roland on the river is on the East Side of the lake and situated on the river. He's got a campground there, launch is ok. I've seen lots of 20ft boats in and out of there. Its right beside Devonshire beach so lots of sand there for the kids.

Good luck!

Hilliards has a nice campground; the crappy beach, day use area and the boat launch is a km down the road from the campsite.

Marten River has a campground, but no boat launch. Have to drive back towards town to launch.

Spruce and Shaw are both nice with Shaw having a marina and boat launch.

Cheers

Shadow creek has a large marina and a boat launch anyone could back down into the lake, plus it is good campsite like shaws point but without the attitude.
They are located just east of Jousard.

Thanks I might have to check this one out.
Went to spruce point last year .Camp stall prices were on par with others ($40 a night with power ) but I was surprised that you had to pay extra ever day to launch your boat .($9.) and $15. for a boat slip
Do they charge extra at Shadow creek even tho you are camping there .

I just goggled Shadow campgrounds and marina at slave .
They want an extra $20. a day to use the boat launch even tho you are camping there for $55 a night with power .
$35 a day for a boat slip. So they are like double the price of spruce point.

Just seeing these extra prices makes me wish the provincial campgrounds on the east side had a boat launch ,which are normally free.
I see Hilliard's Bay Campground on the west side of the lake is provincial and its looks like the boat launch is free and stalls are $40. a night with power

We stayed last year at spruce point .The boat launch did work but leaving their little bay was not so easy as the water level was low . Every day we drove out or in a a boat was hung up on a sand bar ! We were lucky because we were in a small 16 ft boat .
