Default 257 WBY reloads?

Good afternoon gents,

My apologies for all the reloading threads but I can't seem to find much reloading data on my newly acquired 257.

My buddy that I bought the gun from has a dandy load built up with RL 22 and 100 gr TTSX. The only problem is I can't find RL22 anywhere!

So if any one has a line on some RL22 or another load that has worked well for them I am all ears.

The gun is a Remington 700.

Thanks,!

Pick a powder with a similar burn rate and work it out. Imr 7828, H1000 or retumbo. Your rifle, your load, what works best in my gun may not work at all in yours. Figuring it out is most of the fun.

I would personally call the guy you bought the rifle from and find out what else he tried in it and what else worked well. I'm sure he would tell you all kinds of information haha.

Default 257 WBY load

I have had a couple 257 Weatherby's now and both really shot the 100gr TTSX very well using 68.0gr IMR7828SSC. Might be something to try since Alliant powder is going to very hard to find for the next couple years.

Default 257 WBY reloads?

I like IMR 7828 in mine with 110 gr accubonds.

Edit: it also seems to be easier to find these days then many other powders

Default H1000

I use H1000 in both of my Weatherby Magnums.

I'm trying it, still in load development and still haven't found the "magic" recipe for my Mark V 257.

I have good luck using .264 win mag brass resized. Comes out slightly short but works good. Last batch I bought was from cx shooter in morinville

Default 257 WBY Brass

I am not sure where you are located but I was in Kodiak Lake Hunting & Fishing store in Barrhead over the weekend and I'm sure I saw some 257 brass. Maybe give him a call (780-674-2484) & I am sure could ship to you. Its worth a try.
