Default Combat Fishing Sockeye

Since you enjoyed the last here is another from the salt.

Salmon Fishing the Straight of Georgia was a totally new experience for me this year as I haven't been around this area that long. The sockeye run is what really got me out there and keeps drawing me back out. It is a lot of fun to watch hundreds of fish jumping and huge schools on your sonar. Better yet they are fairly cooperative and it is quite common to catch your limit and they taste great. In this video I explain a few more things I do out on the water. Also I land all the fish with the Sockeye Flop this time around and no net. Sure I lose a few again, but end up with a limit. Got some cool underwater attack shots as well wit the gopro on the rigger. Plus some combat fishing with the Purse Seine net boats out there edging me off the schools so they could scoop up thousands of sockeye. It's crazy out there. Let me know what you think, thanks!

Hahaha I thought people would like that Hot Mess. Hey I still landed the fish! Hand lined it in and everything, wrapped around the rigger. Can't belive I didn't lose it.

Nice job Brandon! Yes, I got a good laugh out of that first demo of the flop. Looks like you are in control, going as planned, and then...oh no!

Those commercial fishing boats would probably scare me off a bit at first. You did very well with them around. I'm sure it took some time to get used to for yourself. The comments from the one to you to get off the school are misplaced. Tough call for me to make though. You never know how many bad experiences that boat has had with novice sockeye anglers. I'll bet he could tell some stories...

Great video! Really enjoyed it. You look busier than a cat in a roomful of mice running it all by yourself. Good job!

Mount a big bayonet on the bow of your boat and a connon off both sides when those big boats cut you off like that fire off a connon I’m sure they will soon leave.

"That wasn't pretty at all"

I almost spit my coffee on my computer. Awesome, well done. You really need to come with us fishing next summer.

Glad you guys found my near loss of a psychotic sockeye entertaining.

Just a heads up! DFO announced at their meeting today that the marine sockeye fishery will close at midnight on September 27th. It has been kind of slow out there yesterday and no reports back yet today. They must be all heading up the river now as the river counts went from 15,000 past mission one day to 150,000 the next. Makes it hard to catch fish in the ocean if they decide it's time to head up river. Can't predict stuff like this though.

I might get out once more next week and try for springs, coho and chum.

Probably headed up river because of the rain on the weekend.
