Not to hijack the thread, but now's a great time to check the batteries in your smoke detectors! And couldn't hurt to take a peek at your furnace filter as well!

Like, don't stop there ^ Dude! 
It's also a great time to decalcify your coffee maker, finally clean all those burnt crumbs out of the toaster, flush your water heater, check the toilets for leaking, turn off your outside water taps, put fuel conditioner in your lawnmower gas tank, check the condition of your snow shovels, clean the eavestroughs, swap out to 'real' winter tires, ... and the list goes on and on 
But whatever you do, don't forget to turn all your clocks 'back' an hour!

It takes me a few days to adjust to staying up an hour later. Grumpiness prevails.
