Default tire chains won't clear on my '08 F150. Now what?

As many have found out, tire chains are a no-go on this truck with 275/70r18.
They won't clear rear or front.
Rubs shocks covers and brake line in the rear, and upper control arm up front.
So my tryggs go back into the shed.

So now what?

Who's moved to cables? Which did you get?

Anyone in GP want to trade tryggs fit to 275/70r18 for dark rum?

I might be able to use those, I'll take a look and see if they'll clear on my 15 f150

I went through this with a work truck (2012 F-150) a couple of years ago. Ford moving the shock mounts to outside the springs really limits your options. The closest thing to real chains that I could find and would fit the truck were these.

Better than nothing. I got them through a place in Brooks and they cost a bit more than traditional chains if I remember correctly.

Thanks, Dan.
That's what my digging around has found, too.

there are many solutions to this problem,

get studded tires

remove tire, put nails through them, fill with sand

run with smaller tires on offset rims and use chains

take truck to welder remove shocks put them behind the springs

get mattracks

run under inflated tires

take the bus or a taxi

Well thanks for such a variety of options, many of which I've never considered, Fred.

I got studded tires before finding out about the chain issue. My bad for not doing my research.
They're brand new, so nails and sand is an unattractive option for me.
Smaller may be an option for next time.
Move the shocks, eh? Hmmm. Would still need to move the brake line.
Mattracks are cool!
I've had to air down before, can again.
Nah... i dont think they will carry dead game.
