Friday - Dec 23rd.

Friday’s adventure started out with a bit of snow that turned into a lot of snow …. which had a negative impact on our fishing. The highlight of the day was meeting a couple of A/O members and enjoying some comradery, sharing stories and fishing tips and techniques. I wish both Matt and Vel would of caught more fish, however, they got a couple of decent spots to try over the hard-water season & some Z-z custom W/W stocking stuffers for their next Whitefish adventure. Many tks fellas, I enjoyed the company today.

Seen only five Whites all day, started off good, ice’d my first one on the Candy Cane Yellow/Orange before 9:00, the 2nd on the same W/W shortly thereafter and my 3rd on Red/Glow bead by 10:30 … didn’t seen another White after that, we departed around 4:00 pm. Filleted them up including a couple of Perch that Vel gave me to pass on to my buddy Glen for X-Mass, who’s recovering from Cancer/Chemo treatment.

Taking some time off fishing to spend some quality time with the Mrs & family over X-Mass, perhaps I’ll get out again before we depart to California.

Wishing everyone here a very merry X-Mass … a few pics from today.

Cheers,

David

For anyone out of town who's planning on venturing out to Gull or Sylvan ... bring a shovel, it's still snowing and the 1-2 cm they forecasted looks like this.

Thank you Z for the snow info. Great post. I like your post.
I went to cabelas today to buy some hooks. I find the the Daiichi and the #12 hook. The looks so small. Will they be too small to hook whites? Little worried, hehe...

Those are OK for Sylvan size Whites, howerver, I found a Size 10 used for Wet/Nymphs works better on Gull as the fish are larger and can easily inhale a Size 10. If you got bigger, they spit it quicker, as well my experiment/experience using a good quality 8 lb Fluro which is equal to 6 lb diameter mono holds the W/W horizontal better.

Trust this helps.

Our last adventure was a slow day, between Scott & I .... we didn’t see many fish, started at Sandy Point moved a couple times and ended up at Brownlows looking for Happy's spot.

Got 1 White, 1 Burb, 3 Pike and a handful of small Perch didn’t see any Walleye. The Red W/W & Glow bead produced again. This was my last day on the ice, off to Calif to sit under a Palm Tree with bevy/umbrella, back in April. Scott will continue the story after he spends some time on Sylvan.

Look forward to reading some fish stories and seeing a few pics, too.

Couple pic’s from today …

Cheers

David

Vibro & Jack were BFF’s today

Happy …. we painted your shack black, much better now.

Nice .... Z-z - X-Mass Card on the door.

I’ll be hang up the fishin rod and bring out the sticks & cleaning my grips.

Happy New Year & good fishin everyone ...
