Exclamation Distance between bear bait sites

Alright the area I bait right now is down in a valley right along a river I was thinking of adding a second bear bait on the opposite end of the crown land we are baiting on, the distance is roughly 3.7miles from bait to new bait we’re thinking of... plus a 60 foot elevation change, the new bear bait we are thinking of putting in would be on the higher ground and not in the river valley so I figure more scent will pick up and spread out? Versus the one 60 feet down in the valley?

Thoughts? Too close even with elevation change?

I don't think that's too close. We've had them less than a mile apart and seldom see the same bear at both baits. It's good to have a few in case a grouchy old sow takes one over. If she doesn't come in heat, you may not see many other bears around that bait.

I have baited along the North Sask River and put baits about a half mile apart. It seemed there were different tracks at each one.

I used to outfit for bears. Almost 4 miles is fine. We used to keep our baits minimum 3 miles apart. The boars will travel fair distance especially in later May early june during rut.
