[QUOTE=airbornedeerhunter;3014097]They had to upgrade the suspensions in those rigs to be able to bear the excess weight from the ample frames of our portly armoured friends

They were also outfitted with George Foreman grills and gravy makers.[/QUOT

Was the gunner of a few of those vehicles! And I think the gravy maker is for field blood transfusions! Proud to have served!

A couple of years ago I arranged tour of the Lord Straths in Edmonton for my two sons (12 & 14).
The got a ride in a LAV and played around in a Leopard.
But on of the coolest things was the tank simulator, which they got to 'play' in for about 1/2 hour.
Imaging the best 'Call of Duty' video game, but in a replica tank turret.
I wanted one sooooo bad.

I'm dating myself but, before I joined the RCAF, I was with C Squadron, KOCR's and drove the Sherman tank.

That's cool, we had one at Harvey Barracks as a reminder of the past, wish I could have gotten into one for a little rip around the training grounds. Heard many a story from the old boys, some pretty hairy situations going down steep terrain etc...good times eh!

I've always had a strong interest in armoured vehicles. I heard Leo 1 was the sports car of MBTs back in its day.

Not sure if you are directing your questions to me or not but, I wasn't in combat as the KOCR's are a Militia unit and I was in during the early 60's. We were using the Sherman and the reg force were using the Centurion.

Yes, the Sherman was diesel with a 5 man crew.

I met a good Strat once... he told me he was trained by a Dragoon.
