Default Bears out

We are trying to book some time off for bear hunting north of Spirit river.Seems like winter is 2 or 3 weeks behind in the south.Does it look the same up that way. Will they be out later this year looks like there could still be snow on the ground mid May.

I am positive they will be out later this year. It just might not be for at least another month.

Anyone know what fox creek is like with regards to snow/weather? I know it's a little early but I want to at least go up and scout out the area and maybe put some bait out for when the bears do wake up. Will I need a ski doo or will a quad Do? Thanks

Trapline south/east of Fox Creek, still have 8 foot snow banks on side of road and 4 feet of snow in bush. No melting yet, needed snow shoes to walk anywhere last week.

Lots of snow up here still, maybe double check the regs I don’t think you can bait anywhere near fox. Gotta go a bit further east.

When the poplar buds break the action at baits ramps up quickly after that. Last 10 days of May should be fine.

What area would be good for bears? This is my first year hinting bears and don't know where to begin. I was thinking either 509 or 510? Any help much appreciated. Thanks

Anywhere in Alberta with sizeable tracts of bush is excellent for black bear hunting. Provided it doesn’t overlap with high grizzly populations.
