Just want to say thanks to everyone on this forum for the information and advice that I have gleaned off of this site over the years! I am a self-taught hunter through this site and it wouldn't have been possible without the gear and wisdom from this place.
In September I tried my hand at duck hunting for the first time and after some trial and error started to figure it out! Picked up a shotgun off of a member on here and after patterning it with different loads started to really knock down the ducks/geese. I went out in my little 12ft aluminum that fits in the back of my truck and had way too much fun fishing and duck hunting at the same time!
On opening day of general season I headed south for whitetail and elk. I picked up a little pump pellet pistol and bagged my first grouse with it first thing in the morning. I passed on a couple bucks later in the morning (glad I did) and on the way back to the truck I spooked a moose calf. This worked to my favour as after I walked another 10 yards there was a 5x6 bull standing broadside about 60 yards away watching the calf run away. One shot with the 7mm08 and he dropped on the spot! My first elk!
On Tuesday I went out to call in some coyotes and had an awesome morning with coyotes coming in eager to the call!
Thanks everyone for helping me have my best season yet.
Happy New Year!
