Default Wild Meat

Hi ALL,

I posted a thread during last hunting season asking for wild meat share.
Lots of amazing replies and I got some meat from very helpful and nice member of this forum.

Now, meat is over and start seeking a legal way to get wild meat.

One way is to put my name in a list at the conservation office where an officer will call people in the list as soon as meat becomes available. This list is for people with special conditions for example health problems.

I tried to search around for Bison meat but I discovered it is very very expensive, thousands of dollars.

Anyone here is aware of any other way to get wild meat.

So please share any resources.

Thanks.

Why not take up hunting and fill your own larder?

If it were easy everyone would be doing it.

I dunno the Mrs and I raised 2 children pretty much on wildgame, just her and I hunting and filling our own tags. 2 deer some times upwards of 3 were filled by each of us each season. When we were lucky enough to draw a moose tag we rationed and cherished every last piece, since it could be 2-3 years between draws.(lots of triple wrapped meat)
We also put a fair amount of waterfowl in the larder as well.

You do know what the old world name for a lousy hunter is, don't you?...........

Find a good hunting partner/mentor.

You may have a hunting partner, but that does not necessarily mean you have a 'good' partner.
Anyone can get a rifle and license and go truck hunting, but if you can make friends with a great mentor, it may make all the difference in the world.
You can not of course take anything for granted, you won't shoot anything if they are not there, or you are unable to see the signs required and take appropriate action.

Try hunting rabbits with a 22. If you have the skill and patients to get a rabbit you will become a good big game hunter and rabbits are good eating.

Around here there is a list of low income individuals that they call to recover roadkill. Fresh roadkill doesn't taste any different than something that has been shot with a bullet, as long as it's not pulverized. They only ask that you take the whole critter and don't leave a gut pile in the ditch.

Well, poaching is something I hate the most not because it is illegal but unethical as well. At least for myself.

Are you interested in bear? It tastes great. Just gotta cook it safely. Anyways, if I manage to take down a blackbear or some snow geese over the next month or two... I can spare a bit. It'd be a very small portion as I am hard up for money these days. But I do beleive in paying it forward and sharing a successful hunt. Shoot me a PM so I have a way of contacting you. Can't promise anything.. Ive eaten tag soup before hahaha

The op failed to mention wild meat only, no sausage mixed with pork or beef.

As a concerned citizen i do find what you post interesting.

I have been advised and warned that we have the option of private messages.

I know i do not always follow the suggestion.

But the counselors say i am making progress.

The ones that i follow do speak to me.

It unfortunate most will not hear.

LOL...... you must accommodate the minority and learn to speak Gibberish, this is Canada and that's what we do. By the way I believe there are two sects, the Gibberish sect and the Jibberish sect, please don't confuse or we could end up with Trans GJibbers.
