Default US Election

It has been suggested that the election be delayed because of the time needed to count mail in ballots. Why not have the election a month or more early.

Holding an election in a country of 330 million is a significant undertaking and moving it ahead would just introduce chaos. In the end it will not be the counting that is the problem. It will be both sides refusing to accept the result if they don’t win.

Yup, god help that country if it becomes a close one like Bush vs Gore again. One party or the other, a solid majority is needed.

I might not be a fan of Trump but my money is on him to win. I expect some Democrats to not vote for Biden just like the Bernie supporters didn't vote for Hillary last time.

Either way, the US is going to lose. there is no Society left to save and neither one of the two has a hope of resurrecting it.

Not much different than what we have here in Canada.

A week ago I would of taken your bet, but now that Trump said he's going to use the Military
"to get the vaccine out in a very powerful manner". I don't like that.. but I will up the pot to $200.

Very similar to the situation in Canada.

Install a military presence in blue states and deny mail in voting. Betting odds are pretty lopsided.

He handled it better than we did. Its the governors that screwed it up for the most part.

You tend to just eat up whatever the talking head on the screens tells ya, huh?

The latest figures I can find show that the US has 14,728 cases per million population and 481 deaths per million population. Canada has 3106 cases per million population and 237 deaths per million population. (https://www.worldometers.info/coronavirus/#countries)

How is this handling it better than Canada has?

I think we're discussing a man who suggested internal application of disinfectants such as bleach and who won't call Covid-19 by its proper name. Is the latter because he keeps trying to use the pandemic to score political points or because he can't remember the name of the disease?

He has publicly attacked the two leading experts on viral disease transmission that are part of the White House team when they said something that he didn't like. He cares about his image not the facts.

He confuses the public with his false and misleading statements instead of using his prestige and his high office to convey the truth.

He often talks about how powerful he is and how much he can do by a simple executive order. If that's the case, how can he blame the terrible US record on the governors?

The post office has stated that they are quite capable of handling a mail in vote. I think it would be a boon to the postal service to contract that specific task. Any bets that the Donald hasn’t already infiltrated the services operating body?

It amazes me how many people just repeat the words of a known, proven compulsive liar and pass off what he says as facts.

Amazing. Perfect Sheep who follow the drum beat.

Presenting factual information, like you did, simply falls on deaf ears as they await the next tweet to get their next set of marching orders.

This election is about freedom, either you want to be a slave to the government or you don't. If the democrats win, the freedom we've enjoyed for the last 200 years in this world, will be a thing of the past. Once freedom falls in America, the rest of the world will follow suite, and we'll have a socialist utopia with nowhere to escape to.

I gather from your post that you live in the US so you might not be aware that, in many of its policies, our Conservative Party is at least as far left as your Democrats. For instance, our Conservatives support universal, government-pay medical care and licensing of all gun owners.

It is difficult to tell what the Democrats actually stand for. Unlike the Canadian system, your President and Congress can support widely different policies. Since the Prime Minister is the leader of the majority party here, dissent in the ranks is rare and usually punished. Thus you can read the party policy publications and know what the Prime Minister and the majority of party say they are going to do.

Without a coherent policy statement from the Democrats and from Joe Biden, it's difficult for me to agree that their election would doom us.

He didn't handle anything other than spreading propaganda contrary to Science and the medical field. His own "experts" think he's a buffoon. No big secret what he thinks of Fauci's opinions and now he's given Birx a Twitter reprimand for publicly stating hers.

He wants the county open no matter what the consequences are. That's some brilliant handling.

“Democrat governors bad” is number 3 in his Why it’s Not My Fault flash card set, right behind “didn’t reach my desk” and “china virus”.

At least you can see that the staff is trying to prep him now. I think they slide miss Standard Fox News Angry Blonde Lady press secretary behind the camera at the beginning so she can signal which excuse to use too.

Smart.
