Default synthetic stock?

Triing to shed a pound or two from my Sako rifle. Thinking about getting a synthetic stock if I can save the weight. Not to many options out there for Sako replacment stocks but there are a few. Will I be able to save a pound by replacing wood with a synthetic stock?

You could save the weight by going to a McMillan stock....

I dont think they make their new lightweight "EDGE" stocks to fit Sako, but take a look at the other ones. Rick Bin is the best guy to order from at the 24hourcampfire....

I've got a McMillan on order now...they are not cheap, but they are quality stocks and I cant wait to get mine for my project gun....

Slipbobber, What Sako do you have?
I have a McMillan stock sitting around not on a riffle for a Left hand Sako Hunter Model 7mm.

Have you tried Ram-Line? I have one on my 300 win mag and it works great.

I had no idea that a quality synthetic stock would cost that much. Will stay away from those $100 ones though. Seams most synthetic stocks weigh in at 28-30 oz. What does a wood stock weigh?

Why not weigh your wood stock and find out?

Take your stock, wrap in plain brown paper, slip into you local hardware store and ask to borrow their nail scale, if asked whats in the wrapper tell them it's golf clubs, or a baseball bat.
Produce section of the grocery store works too, but better ask first, un known items and food might be a tad touchy.
Post office especially the ones in a drug store might work too.
