Default Huckleberries

Was picking saskatoons with the family this weekend and had tons of fun as usual. I’ve picked huckleberries before in northern Idaho and at castle’s huckleberry fest, but I was hoping to find my own patch this year. Does anyone here have any tips on finding a good patch? A good elevation to start looking at (seemed 1900m is where we were finding them at the ski hill)? Forest edges or deep in the bush? What time of year have you found to be the best?

Thanks for the advice!
