Many times since the new arena opened we smuggle in some Wendys from across the street. Last night we scarfed down a Baconator before we went in to the game. The Ice District is PACKED with food options, no need to be buying it from those crooks and get financially assaulted in the process.

Been to about 75 games in the new barn and have yet to spend one nickel at those rip-off concessions.

It was classy of Conner to jump right to Ben post game when asked about his hatty, as usual he deflected and gave credit elsewhere mentioning Ben.

Love or hate Conner, that guy is pure class.
Nothing to hate about McDavid unless one’s jealous of his talent. Nice to see his softer human side for sure.

That's what it is, the kind of player you would love to have on your team but you hate if he isnt. I get it, it's just human nature.

On the SportsNet pages he gets nothing but hate even though everyone agrees how exciting he is to watch. I suspect it's mostly Maple Laugh fans and some from down south of us. Leaf fans legit think Mathews is a better player than Conner, cause their Toranna-centric media tells them that, and they believe it, talk about wearing rose color glasses.

SportsNet writers are the worst, just cheerleaders of the team they are covering. Spec and Francis are two of the biggest homers ever, neither one of them knows what it's like to be objective. And they are still nowhere as bad as Make-B Leaf scribes.

not sure why random flames fans would hate on mcJ. he is fun for any fan to watch, in my opinion. man some of the moves he makes..!!.......but i would sure support a new rule that would only let him wear one skate.

It's more so that we can beat you with our backup. We don't need to play Markstrom every game this year, we have the defensive capabilities to play the backup more

I heard Markstrom was suffering from playoff PTSD.

He's a Swede so hopefully he is stronger than that.

Not a Flames fan nor an Oilers fan (I'll cheer for either of them in the playoffs if my team is out), but looking forward to kicking off a new season of The Battle of Alberta! Hoping for a good, hard-fought game with lots of emotion!

Let’s have a good effort. Improve on the defence. Them Flames are dangerous.

Oilers have stow good lines. It can carry them offensively. Campbell is a good enough goalie to help them win games. Still obviously lacking on Defence. Said it repeatedly Oil needed to fix that in the off season. They didn’t and no they will pay the price unless those they have can’t kick it up a notch. Even if they do kick it up… they need 5 notches for the playoffs.

They just need to stop falling, losing position, making stupid mistakes, making stupid passes.

Oil can still come back. This could be a 7-5 game for the oil with 2 more periods left.

Is it happening tonight? Doubt it. Flames D is more polished but improving with each shift.

Oilers tonight so far are…

To win… yes. Oilers D needs improvement. Big time.

Strong momentum shift for the Oilers in the second.

Oilers had a more solid effort in the 2nd and 3rd. Just not as good a team as the Flames but hey… makes me happy having a 1…2.. teams to root for.

Skinner was the only shining light tonight. Kudos to that kid. We'll get em next game. Campbell will find his form, I'm sure.

D has some work to do yet too.

Stu was awesome in relief. Not sure what was going on with Dri and McDavid tonight but the timing looked off all night. Hyman was a beast on puck retrievals and possession and I think McLeod will be 3rd line center next game.

When Barrie is your best defensive d-man, it's going to be a rough night. Another terrible start with 2 goals attributed to our d-man tripping over his own feet.

Crowd was good and the excitement in the building was awesome right up to the last second of the game.

But Brendan said the best part of the night was his medium rare steak sandwich at Brewster!

First home game, I wondered if the ice was off a bit? Puck seemed to be bouncing, guys falling, etc. Could be that it was only their 2nd game, but the puck doesn't care about that.

Nobody is as happy about last nights game as my next door neighbor, he just sent in his e-mail to claim his almost $500k from last night's 50/50 draw.

Yup.
1st period bit them in the arse.
Couldn’t recover enough in the second and third. Is what it is.
