My neighbors gave me some raw bones for the dog.
Beef. Looks like the back bone. Frozen raw. She’s not use to raw bones. I assume if I watch her let her have it for an hour or so she’ll be fine.
Can’t leave it for the day she’ll find a spot to bury. Can I just keep re freezing it?

The bones came from the butcher. She said her dog doesn’t touch them.

Nice treat. Your dog says you're a fine master!

I took it away. Most of the meat is gone. I suppose back into the fridge is ok. I’ll give it it back to her tomorrow.
I always feel un easy when she gets bones. First time I think for raw. Wasn’t much meat anyway.
Worrying for nothing probably.
Gonna be a stinky night. lol.

We give our dogs raw beef bones all the time - years. No issues with the dogs they just keep chewing - it's great for cleaning their teeth and gums. If your dog is not used to it and there is a lot of meat on the bone it may loosen up the back end for a day. The only real issue I have found is when I miss picking one up before mowing the lawn. I ask them to put their toys away but....

My guideline is that the bones should be small enough to chew on - but big enough to prevent the dog from biting off chunks or swallowing the bone. Your dog's size/strength determines how big the bone should be
Big round leg section are perfect for my lab. Like a frozen popsicle

Watch for splinters. Make sure there are none. If she buries the bone - it’s fine, you don’t have to refrigerate it to keep fresh. Dogs can digest the rotten meat no problem, their stomach acidity is very high so things like ecoli or salmonella aren’t a problem. If you decide to place the bone in your fridge- make sure you place it in the closed container to avoid contamination of your food.that’s way more important than dog burying the bone.
Also, take a look how hard your dog chewing the bone. If he is too aggressive on chewing it- some dogs can easily break the tooth doing that. Trust me, you don’t want that happen!

I buy our little cavapoo frozen soup bones. Little bugger loves them, on days like today they are like a dog freezee. When's he's done with one they either go back in the freezer or the garbage bin.

Always two tasks to cut the lawn, check for freshies and bones. I get frozen soup bones from the store, he breaks up and eats pretty much anything else.
Only one store here has them, sometimes they cut them to 3" or so, other times all that is left are 6-7" ones that I just cut up on the band saw.

My dog has been running around with an elk skull for the past couple of months like it is a trophy. Finally destroyed it. He thinks that hunting season is christmas.
Have two small dogs and they get deer ribs as long as they last and never had an issue.
Dogs can manage it. Keep telling people that try to put the disney twist on a dog that a dog at their base instinct are still a dog. All the survival traits are still there.

Reminds me of my wife, she was wanting to get a horse. She was going around the wooded areas, trying to get rid of the dead wood so the horse wouldn't trip. I told her that any horse that would trip and break a leg on a fallen tree wasn't a "keeper" . Same goes for a dog that would choke on a bone!
