That’s pretty scary. The guy could have had a broken neck quite easily.

I’ve seen comments on other posts for this incident indicating he did break his neck and later died.

There's a longer video where he gets almost up, stops at the top of the ramp, then guns it again just where this video starts.

Loading and unloading are not my favorite parts of the day.

I wondered that before I read your comment. Back of the head & neck hit pretty hard.

That is not good at all.

I landed the same once, but it was a quad and I was unloading to go bear baiting.

Backed up a few inches and realized the winch hook had grabbed a bungee cord strapped across the front of my truck. I stood up on the pegs and leaned forward to unhook it, and my thigh bumped the throttle. Momentum then drove my leg harder into the throttle and the quad never even touched the ramp. It landed on the rear bumper facing straight up and I landed just like he did.
If it wasn't for my friend standing there the quad would have then landed on top of me.

I couldn't turn my head for a month and even walking hurt, but I was thankful that I was still breathing and could still wipe my own butt.

Now, if my ass leaves the seat, the machine goes into neutral.

Hopefully the rumours aren't true and that guy is ok.
Or going to be.

When poop happens it happens real quick.
Had two spills this year in the skidoo....yup
Last one went up over a birm, three feet high and steep on both sides, up, over, seat bucked up violently as I was standing and hit me in the arse and off I went....bucked off skidding across the snow.....machines sitting their idling like it accomplished it’s mission of bucking me off

Hard life lessons learnt except now they hurt more and last longer

My Dad did that with a snow cruiser in the mid 70's.Machine wasn't running all day so he figured he should give it all it had to load.First time that day it took off like it should and crushed the cab of my grandfathers new truck when it went into it's orbital launch. The old man was pretty quite on the way home LOL

Even the experienced loaders can run into trouble once and awhile. Have seen some not so good loadings of quads and bikes over the years. Over the sides, through back windows, flipped backwards. Just a thought here, how about cutting down on the steepness of the ramp? Would it be possible to make them extendable with a different slot length, maybe like an extension ladder. Will take away from the rocket launching pad. Just trying to come up with a solution to help prevent events like that. I do realize certain areas have built up loading pads.

How about you just haul a trailer ? this is one of those Darwin award moves.

I hate sled decks. My brother had one and I hated loading my sled on it. The other thing, unless you are putting the deck on a dually, to me it always felt like the truck was going to roll.

Tragic and completely avoidable.

Simply backing the truck up against the snow bank would have levelled off the approach angle. It then would have been an almost level approach.

Here he was going up as the truck was on an angle, and the deck itself was not level side to side.

You can winch a sled or quad up these sort of ramps using a remote with a 2500 # winch mounted on the headache rack. No one ever does though.

I have had a quad tip sideways and did not enjoy the sensation, but it was a 2 foot high deck height.

This was a full 6 foot height on top of the deck.

At the end of a day, in the dark, it is easy to think loading is doable and the rider probably has done this many times. We all take risks with sleds and atvs. This is a lesson for all of us.

I know someone who did this exact same thing; but he stayed on and went over the truck and down the front. He only broke his arm.

It was a new to him sled that someone had changed from a thumb throttle to a twist throttle. He had never had a twist throttle before and when he hit the ramp a bit to hard he bounced up and his twisted, just givin 'er. He landed on the roof of the truck and went down the whole front. Was a scary sight.

That's what I was thinking.... but it was on the internet so....

It can and I am sure does happen. I never liked loading on a sled deck. Buddy had one. I loaded one time. Nothing nefarious happened but by the next weekend I had a four place inclosed trailer drive in, drive out. No issues and had a storage for my sleds.

The 7 am news at country 105.1 this morning talked about a man who recently died loading his sled and there were over 8 people living through his organ donation. Think they said BC and the man was 32.
Same accident?
God bless!

Crazy video, seen it before.

If you ride toys and load stuff, craps happens fast and I would guess most of us have had similar instances. I know I have.

I deck my sleds but when quading, they go on the trailer. You can walk around a sled on a deck but you have to be part mountain goat walking on the edges etc to get to & strap down a quad on a deck. Plus the ramp angle, tires don't grip like skies on superglides. I don't need to do that when I have a nice big trailer that is over half the distance to the ground if you slip lol.

I have a sloped driveway and park the truck at the bottom in the alley when loading and off loading sleds, the angle is so small this way. Nice and easy. But try to unload and load sleds in a unlevel parking lot and you can get squirrely real fast.
