This will be about the 10th - 12th year I have been asked to take part in it.
Normally every year I fill my 10 envelopes that they send and call it good. Last year I sent in three kits worth(30 birds).
This year I am going to request 3-4 kits.

I am going to do it again this year last year was my first and the problem I had was getting enough envelopes fast enuf I had the first 30 filled in no time and it took them several weeks to send more out so they missed out on a few of my samples but it was interesting to getthe results back

It always been my understanding that they send a questionnaire out to a bunch of the previous years license holders asking if you wish to take part in the upcoming season.

I see there is a little bit of info here:

I got this in the mail the other day and thought it was interesting so I sent it back saying yes. This species list, is it what species you shot over the course of the hunting season?

The list they send back to you in June is just a summary of what YOU submitted the previous year.
ie: Canada Goose, Lesser Canada, White Fronted Goose, Snow Goose, Ross Goose, Mallard, etc. They also try to determine if its male, female, adult or juvenile. (Species, Sex, and Age)

LOL I guess thats what I ment to say. So how many envelops do they send you off the get go? Im sure if they only send you 10 or so most people could fill them in one hunt.

Here's 2004 seasons species list

When I shot the greater scaup I wasn't 100% sure it was one since it was so far out of its range, but with the wing survey, it confirmed it.

Yes just 10 to start with. Then you can request more after the first 10.
