Default Willmore Elk / Sheep hunt

Hello all, we are planning our backcountry hunt in Willmore and are looking for some suggestions on locations for Sheep and Elk. We will be hiking in (no horses) and would really appreciate some tips on good spots within pack out distance. Any solid tips on Sheep hunting would be appreciated as well.

I realize some of these spots are secret and if you would rather PM me I would very much appreciate it.

Thanks in advance!

After seeing the number of guys in the Willmore last year. What's a few more.. We saw big elk and book rams in the Zipyerlip Creek drainage.. Just north of do-the-work lake...

No doubt. What a gong show it was in there.

I don't really want to walk all the way into the Willmore. It's really far, and that would be hard. Does anyone know where there's some big rams that are closer to the road? Preferably a paved road. On a sunny day.
Thanks in advance.

It’ll be an incredible hunt! Legal rams are always tough to find, and elk aren’t the most abundant in the Willmore, but there’s a couple dandy ones in there!

Worth the experience even if you don’t get anything!

In case you can’t tell, what you are asking for here is ridiculous. Sheep spots are held very close to people chests. If two people ask me where I hunt sheep, they’ll both get different answers neither of which are the truth. Welcome to the sheep hunting crowd. You’ll need to do the leg work on your own or go with someone who knows a thing or two about sheep hunting. Nobody is really going to throw you a bone because most guys hunt for 10+ years and don’t fill a tag. Study the maps, pick a spot and go hunt it. You will learn what you need to do to be successful. Eventually.

Had to offer up my regrets to the boys-said I didn't miss much as the amount of pressure and in deep was insane.

Most I've ever seen was last year as well. Although, I don't have as many years in as most guys.

My friends only packed in a 1/3rd our "normal" distance in because of the increase intraffic-did you get into your usual spots or cut it short?

We ended up doing the opposite and going in significantly further to check out some new places. No ram joined us on the way out, but it would have been a multi day grinder had we got one or two down.

I do think your idea might have been a good one though. Lot of people, including myself walk by some great country.

I do think I’m going to explore some new areas though the next few years. Might be less chance of a ram, but I do enjoy exploring new country.

Bold move asking a question like that on here. I don’t know if I would trust any of the info you get. Get out and start walking would be your best bet
