Default Dragonfly 9' 4# rod?

Hi all,

I was in the Windermere CT this am and found a Dragonfly 9' 4# 2 piece rod with a tube on clearance for $39.99, down from $150. I picked it up for my son as his b-day is Saturday and he is currently using an old Mitchell 6# which is way too much for the tiny cuts and browns we have been after.

I figured for $40 I couldn't really go wrong, but does anyone have any experience with these rods?

Used to have one in a 6 wt. Found it to be a very nice rod to fish with until it got run over. My fault wasn't paying attention and left it sitting on top of the truck. Like I said the 6 wt was very nice, a 4 wt sounds like a lot of fun. And that is a hell of a deal.

I fished a friend's dragonfly 6wt when I slammed my rod in a door (oops).

fished fine, landed several large BC rainbows on it. Definitely worth the $40!

put a quality line on it and it'll cast very well

^^^^ that! Give me a $150 rod with $80 line any day over a $500 rod with $20 line. My son really likes his 4#, and we didn't have to trade any body parts for it.

I had a 6 weight 2 piece for a while and used it with no complaints, gave it away to a young man getting into fly-fishing and it got him hooked. Good rod and that's a great deal at that price.

I got him a Lamson Liquid 1.5 reel and put a Rio Trout LT line. Hopefully it ends up working well for him.

Beautiful fish. Grayling are hard to come by in the waters near me, so I've never caught one. Lucky lad.
