Rifle Blows Apart
The exact cause wasn't posted, but what a mess.

Could have been a squib, the barrel split halfway up. He didn't look like he was hurt judging by how fast he was running.

It appears that the bullet got most of the way down the barrel before it burst, makes me wonder if he didn't have the wrong ammo, maybe a 7mm mag in a 270 mag rifle or something like that. I wonder if the bullet is still in the un-ruptured part of the barrel.

If this is the one I saw posted earlier they said it was a muzzle loader (Remington 700 based). The guy who pulled the trigger was hurt, primarily his hand. Pretty graphic pictures to be honest. They said the weren't sure, squib load, double charge, etc.

Yup same, the guys hand and trigger finger were mangled some graphic pics on facebook open the link for a reminder to be safe

We had an ugly reminder this weekend that you can never be to safe. I decided to film my good buddy off my hip as I looked down the spotter. Little did I know what would ensue, as you will/have watched. Muzzleloader season is almost upon us and for other states it's here. Please be safe and check your gun before you load and fire it. We don't know the exact reason as to why this ultimate muzzleloader blew up but it did. This accident could have been a lot worse for my buddy but someone was looking over him and he is extremely lucky. Safety first and always!

I know dick about muzzleloaders but why the muzzlebrake?

Muzzle loaders do not use detachable mags
This one looks like it has one and a bottom mag frame
Also I heve never seen a muzzle loader with a brake

For sure not old school. A 300 gr @ 2600 would be near brutal. Methinks it may even qualify for the general rifle season ..

Might have placed 2 bullets on his powder by mistake,lotsa pressure going on in this deal,lucky it took the least point of residence and split instead of only one split and getting the blow back in his face from just one direction.

That Leupold stood up great from the looks of it.
As far as a muzzle loader accident, that isn't a blown muzzle loader in the picture. If it was a ML he blew then a different picture is needed.
