Default How much ice on Cold Lake?

Has anyone been out testing the limits on the thin ice? Want to head up next week but I heard there is over 2' of snow on the ice...That will slow the freeze.

I heard that they had lots of snow up there over the past few weeks as well. I doubt however that there would be 2ft of snow on the ice itself. Being this early in the season and with Cold Lake usually the last to freeze up I'm hoping that the first few snow falls landed into open water verses ontop of the ice. Also if there were 2ft of snow on top of only 6"-12" of ice, the weight of the snow would push the ice down and all we would have right now would be some serious flood water. Almost nothing could get through that.

But enough suspicion does anyone have an actual update on the conditions. I'm hoping to get out soon as well.
