Default Marcum LX7 or LX9

Has anyone used the marcum LX7 or 9. I'm thinking about upgrading from the LX5 and would like some feed back on these units if someone has any experience with them.

regards,

Scrub

Had the LX7 for the bulk of last season. It's a bit finicky and has some QC problems I haven't seen with the VX1 or LX5. After the software update it got quite a bit better but at times I wish I would have stuck with the LX5.

Pros:
Nice big screen
Vertical display with history
Coolest gadget out there
Updatable firmware (only one thus far)

Cons:
Lots of glare with the screen shield
Hard to get clean signal at times - LX5 seemed better at Cold Lake in the deep
Case is kinda crappy
Charger won't go green

The only difference between the the LX7 and the LX9 is the camera. The LX9 is an all in one unit that has the ability to overlay the video over top of the LX7's sonar, or run in split screen mode. The LX7 will be upgradable to a 9 but will require the unit be sent back to Marcum for both mechanical and software upgrades. The LX5 is a classic and probably the best old school flasher on the market.

I agree with Tungsten about the glare issue in open air use but the LX7/9 will only get better with future software updates.

Next year I expect Marcum to add mapping GPS to the LX11?

It never ends...

LX-9 seems like a Gucci unit. However, I mainly use my camera as a shawllow water search tool and luging a flasher/camera combo around all day defeats run and gun techniques. If they included GPS mappig Id be more interested.

I've been using the LX9 for 3 years can you believe and it's been great, never let me down but I think it's time for an upgrade. What would any of you recommend here as a good buy?

Marcum rt11

Not much else in the way of an upgrade for the lx9. I think that's pretty much the tip of the mountain.

If you only use the flasher, no need to upgrade to a 7.
I have the LX7 and I only use the sonar and not the flasher .
A lot of bells and whistles on these units. I just like the big screen and the power this unit has.

I bought my LX-7 the first year they came out and I love the thing. It's like a video game for ice fishing. Very powerful and accurate.

You can't upgrade from the LX9 until the RT9 comes out. I am hesitant to get it as it does not use auto hart and can only read preloaded map chips. Doesn't do much good for Canada especially at the $3000 price tag if it is fully rigged.
