Default fresh water shrimp and muskrats

Hey guys have any one here ever have trouble with shrimp or I guess its shrimp chewing up their muskrats?I got one water hole with lots of rats but the little shrimps are getting my rats before me

Never heard of that before. I would be more inclined to think that the rats are getting to themselves. It is that time of year when they're at their fighting best.

Had one eaten out on the inside over night there was only the skin/fur over the white bones and just packed with shrimp I been starting to get the odd one with bites from other rats but this wasn't done by rats

Although I've never heard of this before, shrimp in the salt chuck are very much scavengers so I guess why not fresh water as well. Pretty interesting!

They are still good they only really starting moving in the last week a lot of the water holes are still frozen

Our creeks and ponds are wide open , getting blue patches on the hides , guess it's time to pull the traps .

Got one this morning with bite marks on him I'm thinking about running for another week then I'm going to shut it down I only got a dozen traps left out most of it pulled up. maybe its just me but I'm not a big fan of catching animals in thew spring.

pulled my skrat traps this morning and had only one .. He was chewed up pretty bad

those are crayfish eating your catch.

That could be they looked like shrimp to me I can't say I have ever seen any crayfish so I wouldn't know what they look like all I know is they can eat a fast and their is A LOT of them in the water that I have my traps in

Been many years since I trapped 'rats but I can remember having trouble with mink getting after the rats that were in a trap.

I have had that problem they can get in and out of the funnel traps

Don't want to derail this thread but the funnel trap problem can be fixed with plexi glass. Rats & mink go in, nothing comes out.
