Default Has anyone purchased the 7.62x51 surplus ammo from Cabelas?

Has anyone purchased the 7.62x51 surplus ammo from Cabelas? I am curious to know if it is boxer or berdan primed. Also, what brand is it?

Hirtenberger of Austria.I think the box I picked up was 1981? Boxer primed, reloaded my first bunch last night.
Shoots clean for surplus but not that accurate from my gun

That's awesome news. That's what I was hoping to hear. I assume that Calgary Cabelas would have the same stock. You don't happen to how I can tell if it is boxer primed or not? I know how to tell the year from the package but I don't want to get home and find out that I got Berdan primed.

Calgary Shooting Centre also has the same Hirtenberger surplus 7.62 NATO but I don't know if they sell part cases like how Cabelas is breaking them up. It might be worth cross checking prices. As noted, it's Austrian manufactured.

The austrian ammo is both boxer and berdan primed so be carefull as im not sure what the difference is. I have some of the reloadable stuff and the flash holes need cleaning up but either than that its good brass for plinking loads.

Default Surpluss Ammo

I found the Cabelas ammo was pretty clean and shoots well. I wouldn't hesitate to pick up another box.

Calgary Shooting Centre Hirtenberger ammo is 1974 and is berdan primed. A box of 20 is $19.99
