Default Slave lake area ice?

Has anyone been up to Utikama or any pot hole lakes around there?
I imagine slave needs another cold snap.

Was out at sturgeon the other day, 8" of good ice in most areas but it really varied in areas, will be a while before driving on is safe.

I have not been on the big lake yet, but I agree with you, probably needs another really cold snap to make it safe.

Winagami and Snipe both have about 8 inches of really good ice, lots of quads and sleds on the ice already.

Is there a good spot to park and off load a skidoo up there? I imagine one of the campgrounds. I'd appreciate any suggestions.

I have it on good authority that the boat launch area at Hilliards Bay on the west side is all opened up, parking area included. More than enough room to park and unload machines.

I cannot speak for Joussard, but they usually have a few guys over there who keep access opened up pretty good.

Took the ski-doo on Slave Lake yesterday by Widewater. About 7 shacks out there already. One guy pulled his out yesterday with his pick up. Where we drilled our holes there was about 14 inches of ice.

Joussard had about 18" of good ice yesterday. Lots of shacks out too. Even though there is lots of ice, the ice snapping and cracking sure is eerie when a 1ton diesel drives by. It turned out to be a pretty good day. A few small pike, one nice one that would have given my 8" hole a run for its money but my 8lb line was no match. A few good walleye too. They were biting super soft. Ipicked up a bunch of new hooks from gnugen last week which caught everything yesterday. This was also the maiden voyage for my new ion auger. I only drilled two holes but so far I am impressed!
