I am pretty sure they won't be last, but hey it's a lottery and you never know. I know you wrote that in jest or don't understand the process.... I'm leaning towards the sarcasm.

Replacing a terrible Gm with an unproven gm who was fired by the guy he is replacing is great. I love it

and oiler fans laughed when we signed Jokinen as a free agent..

I laughed for a good 10 minutes when I heard this today.

Interesting fact:

4 years ago today, Tambellini fired Mac T.

X2 and the Oil continue to reward failure! What they need is some fresh blood. Pretty stagnant over there. Shame I says, shame on you Lowe. On the bright side I spent exactly ZERO dollars supporting that team this year.

Kevin Lowe's gotta go..... never a success, he was promoted instead of fired. Now recycling McTavish who has never even been an assisitant GM, plus bringing back Howson, who was fired by Columbus for goodness sake. They are rebuilding the team, need to rebuild management too, from the top.

Brian Burke would have been fun but Lowe would never hire him. They hate each other. How about Lindy Ruff? Or any of a dozen assistant GM's from successful teams... but no.... McTavish. Jeez.

Next will be Kroger and they will bring in Huddy to coach the team!

They should have went after Ron Hextall in LA. Assistant GM and has done a great job working with the younger players there.

The decision today does not sit well with me. I think MacT is a very intelligent man, with good hockey sence but I dont think he is the right guy for the job right now and will end up a Kevin Lowe puppet and I dont have much faith in Lowe.

For the record Tambo did not fire MacT, he resigned but that is really splitting hairs at this point.

I did like to hear some of the language used today as far as being bold and taking some risks, I think that the time for action on the Oilers management is this summer, we shall see what they can pull off. I did like to hear the passion.

As far as Housin (sp) goes I dont hate the move, I think he did a pretty decent job in Columbus considering what he had to work with, the team there now is one that he built and they are in the playoffs...

There is still a sick feeling in my stomach that this recycling is not what the Oilers need, but my heart wants to say "look at the tradition, maybe this will be a rebirth for MacT and forward movement for my beloved Oilers!"

Mac T is the right choice, guy hates to lose, has won as a player, success as a coach. Went back at his age and got his MBA Sure hes a rookie GM but knows the team and has a proven veteran asst GM in Howson. As for the old boys club comments, you can dig thru a lot of sports organizations and fins the same thing. Funny nobody in Edmonton bitches when the Esks bring back ex players, they do its called tradition and bringing back the "Eskimo Way"

Dallas has done it in the NHL many NFL teams do the same same with MLB

As for Mac Ts comments about being bold and taking risks..I am all for it. We have a plethora of assets and cap room now is the time to take the gamble, beats the hell outa the position Calgary is in where Ken King tell Uncle Feaster the teams goal is make the playoffs next year. Lol really? 8 players with NMC and two maybe NHL prospects? Que a summer of overpaying old UFAs again Calgary

What I would like to know is how come teams like the Montreal Canadians, Detroit Redwings, Boston Bruins and others can have good teams year after year and do not have to go through this process of finishing last or near the bottom so they can get the best draft. What do they know that our guys don't know. Calgary and Edmonton have not had really good teams since the old days with the battles of Alberta. Now there more like waltzs in Alberta.

This move by the Oilers is akin to rearranging the chairs on the deck of the Titanic. Futile!

Despite what Kevin Lowe says about his 5 rings as a player, they are meaningless as a President/GM of the team. As long as he continues to run that team up North, they aren't winning anything other than more lottery picks

Did you hear the press conference where he laid out his duties as liaison between owner and management? He is but a small cog in the running of the team the GM has the final say, our pres isn't meddling like Ken King does.....enjoy the re-tool as you aren't really rebuilding

And do you not see the debacle? Dave Semenko is employed as one of their scouts for christ sakes!! If that doesn't speak volumes of the good ol boys club, I don't know what does. They are a wierd organization.....
