I don't get to emotional about shopping local and supporting the little guy yadayada. Most of our household shopping other than the necessities gets done online. Sometimes it's from Canadian companies, sometimes overseas, sometimes state side. Frankly it's getting to the point that I'll spend a bit extra for the convenience.
Went looking for two additional freezer baskets for the new freezer. Total cost of freezer with two baskets, $600 delivered from Home Depot. It was supposed to come with 4, per the Home Depot website so called to get the other two. Home Depot doesn't have access to spare baskets so refunded me $225 but I have to go get my own. Seemed reasonable so started shopping. Interestingly the same freezer sells for $799 U.S. at Home Depot in the States. Cost in Canada for two more baskets from the two parts outlet stores, $225 or more the 1/3 of the freezer's total cost. Seemed like a ridiculous price so I expanded the search. Exact same baskets ordered online out of parts stores in the States, with shipping and exchange, $104 Canadian.
For your basket maybe check appliance repair places. They usually have old parts kicking around.
What really bugs me is the made in Canada stuff, that you'd like to buy here. Some soap I like from Rocky Mountain Barber, is $13 a bar now. What??? And half that, if they ship to the US and I buy it there. Awful.
I love their products too! Just so darn expensive, though.
